We have had an ‘eco’ theme at Lovelace this week and this continues when we return to school after half term with that week finishing with School Grounds / Outdoor Learning Day on Friday 11th June. We have been particularly concentrating on litter and the issues with plastic waste. Having received numerous persuasive letters, I know the children in year 4 feel very strongly about litter issues and have raised them at school council and as a result we will also be taking part in the Big School Clean Up as part of a Keep Britain Tidy Project when we return to school.

Thank you to everyone who ventured into school last Saturday morning,  particularly to the Bruce Family, who undertook a number of tasks to ensure our school grounds are in good shape. Mr. Bruce created a clear access pathway to our new cycle and scooter store at our Devon Way entrance. Alongside a grant from TFL and a new cover and cycle storage this is now the place for any child or parent using the Devon Way gate to leave their bicycle or scooter!

Great to see everyone continuing to follow the Covid guidelines at school  and also taking part in the home testing for asymptomatic cases. As well as us having to close a class bubble this week, locally cases have risen with cases in a number of schools - cases in Kingston are double the London average so it is vital that everyone is doing their bit to keep safe:

Finally, congratulations to our “Team Lovelace’ who completed the Marsden March last Sunday – over £7000 has been raised. We are very proud of all who completed the 15 miles particularly Mr. D – thank you to all who donated – much appreciated.

What a joy it has been that the sun has made an appearance and we have seen some blue sky this week! I hope this continues for you and your family to enjoy half term.

Take care and stay safe
