The Lovelace 144 Club

“Knowing the times tables fluently helps children to develop their learning in maths because they can take that knowledge for granted, which frees up cognitive space for them to learn new mathematical ideas and apply maths to solve problems.” (Jo Boaler)

At Lovelace Primary School we will be offering all children in KS2 (Y3-6) the opportunity to join an exclusive club called the 144 Club. To be part of the 144 Club, children need to prove they know all of the 12 times tables. Once a week your child’s teacher will recommend children complete a times table grid of 144 jumbled up multiplication facts up to 12 x 12. To join the club and gain their first badge, the children will need to complete the challenge in under 6 minutes.

The key to successfully completing this challenge is practise, practise, practise! With practise will come the quick recall and successful children will be celebrated in our achievements assembly with publication in our weekly newsletter!
