On May 25th 2018 the General Data Protection Regulation came into effect across the EU. The GDPR is a piece of EU-wide legislation which determines how people's personal data is processed and kept safe and the legal rights that individuals have in relation to their own data.

Personal data is information relating to an identifiable living individual. Historically whenever personal data is processed, collected, recorded, stored or disposed of it has had to be done within the terms of the Data Protection Act (DPA). We already have strong data protection policies in place, but these now need to be updated in line with GDPR.

As part of this process we may well write to parents/carers about GDPR - possibly in respect of consent (which we have done for some years already) or about updating your information with us. Any relevant documents will be placed at the foot of this page.

We have had a group working on GDPR since Autumn 2017 and have now involved Governors in implementing the final decisions on adapting to the new changes.

For further information we recommend you watch the short video below and should you require more detail visit the Information Commissioner's Office website.
