The School

Our school opened in 1953 on the present site and we cater for children between the ages of three and eleven. The school building is situated in the centre of Chessington, surrounded by mature trees and an expanse of playing fields. Lovelace is a happy school with a positive ethos and we take pride in our diverse cultural community and believe that all children can be encouraged to do their best in a positive, hard working, learning environment. We value each child as an individual and work with parents to foster faith, caring attitudes, thoughtfulness, mutual respect, self discipline and self confidence.

Lovelace is a
community which seeks to provide a very happy,
caring and stimulating environment where all our
children are encouraged to achieve their full
potential. This forms the very centre of our school
life and together in partnership with home, school
and community we aim to share, nurture and pass
on our beliefs to our children through example,
behaviour and teaching. We aim to provide an
excellent child-centred education, building upon
the foundations already laid in the home. We aim
to encourage a social awareness so that our
children promote harmony and understanding for
all people regardless of ability, gender, ethnicity or
faith.

The Grounds

The school is set in extensive and attractive grounds on the edge of the Royal Borough of Kingston- upon-Thames. The building has light, airy classrooms with many of the ground floor classrooms benefiting from direct access to a paved terrace.  There are two large halls and a separate ICT suite and library. Each class has been fitted with state of the art Smart Boards and video projectors.

Within the grounds there are three separate playgrounds for the nursery, infant and junior children.  The school has worked hard, with the assistance of the Parents’ Association, to develop these areas to cater for the different needs of the children.  Quiet, shady areas have been created for those children who prefer a calmer atmosphere.  Each playground also has its own climbing equipment or activity trail.
